The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Historical Forum and the Mary and Jeff Bell Library is hosting “100 Years After the Storm,” featuring author, historian, guest lecturer, and Islander alumna Mary Jo O’Rear on Friday, Sept. 13, at 1 p.m. outside the Special Collections area of the Bell Library. The event, which is part of “Remembering the Hurricane of 1919: 100 Year Anniversary,” is intended to commemorate the massive hurricane which struck the Corpus Christi Bay in 1919. The program will also include a panel discussion by faculty experts along with a display of historical photos and documents relating to the storm. The event is free and open to public, with a meet and greet and light refreshments following the panel discussion.
