Islander MusicFest 2017
The Music Department presents the Islander MusicFest 2017, which will be held on Friday, Sept. 22, and Saturday, Sept. 23, to celebrate the Music and Life of Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750).

- Sept. 22 – Informal free concerts will start at 11 a.m. around campus. Stop by the Dr. Hector Garcia Plaza and inside the University Center to listen to music written by Johann Sebastian Bach and played by talented Islander music students.
- Sept. 23 – Join the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi music faculty for a morning of interactive lectures and information about the life of Johann Sebastian Bach. Lectures are free for students.
- 9 a.m. in Bay Hall, room 104: The life and music of Johann Sebastian Bach by Dr. Melissa Melendez.
- 10 a.m. in Bay Hall, room 104: Sonatas and Partitias by Johann Sebastian Bach for violin solo: development of violin playing in the baroque period by Dr. Jose Flores.
- 11:00 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center: Keyboard instruments in the baroque period: Harpsichord, piano forte, organ. Johann Sebastian Bach's influence in the development of the modern piano by Dr. Sangmi Lim and Dr. Dino Mulic.
- Noon in the Performing Arts Center: Viola da gamba: favorite instrument in the baroque period. Interactive lecture by Mr. Pedro Funes of the Houston Viol Society.
- 2-6 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center: Free concert
